Christopher Poirier
CEO
Since joining CoalTek in 2003, Mr. Poirier has spearheaded CoalTek's efforts to commercialize and deploy the company's Clean Coal technology, overseeing corporate strategy, operations, financial management and business development. Prior to his current role at CoalTek, Mr. Poirier founded or led several venture-backed technology companies, including Resinate Corporation, GetPlastic, and JR Medical Technology. His extensive experience includes technical sales, business development and management positions at MK Industries and AT&T Global Information Systems. Mr. Poirier is a member of the American Coal Council and a member of the Environmental Committee of the Council of Industrial Boiler Operators (CIBO). Mr. Poirier earned his Bachelor's degree in Marketing and Finance from Boston College.
Dan Kuzmak
Chief Financial Officer
Dan Kuzmak joined CoalTek in 2011 as the Chief Financial Officer. Dan brings extensive experience in both public and private companies, as well as a deep background in project, manufacturing and service based organizations (both domestically and internationally) to his new role at CoalTek. In the two years prior to joining CoalTek, Mr. Kuzmak served as CEO of Quench USA, Inc, restructuring and consolidating the company to position it for growth. Before that, Mr. Kuzmak was the Group VP of Finance, Construction, of Terex, Inc, a multi-billion dollar heavy equipment manufacturer. He has also held the position of CFO with Ionics, Incorporated and ABB, Inc. (the U.S. operation of Asea Brown Boveri Limited). Mr. Kuzmak earned his Bachelor's degree in Economics from Gordon College and his Master's degree in Finance from the University of Connecticut.
Kourosh Kamshad
Vice President of Engineering and Technology
Kourosh Kamshad joined CoalTek in 2010. He has over 22 years of global experience in technical leadership and general management in renewable energy, semiconductor, and automation with emphasis on commercial development. Kourosh is responsible for Engineering, R&D, IP Management, and Technical Operations. Prior to his current role at CoalTek, he served as VP of Engineering for GT Solar, Co-Founder/GM at DEVPROTEK a new product development start-up for semiconductor and alternative energy, and Sr. Engineering Manager at PRI Automation. He has an Electrical Engineering degree from Northeastern University and completed his graduate studies in Engineering Management at University of Massachusetts.
Derek Shao
Group Vice President & General Manager, CoalTek China
Derek Shao joined CoalTek in 2011 as the Group Vice President & General Manager, CoalTek China. Derek has 22+ years of progressive management experience across a wide range of industrial sectors, including construction, automotive, electric power, aerospace, mining, chemical and other industries. Prior to joining CoalTek, Derek was the Vice President of Carlisle Asia Pacific, a $300 million subsidiary of Carlisle Companies Incorporated. Before that, Derek was the Director of the Business Development for the energy division of Tyco China, a $4 billion subsidiary of Tyco, Inc. During his career, Derek has held the position of Managing Director, General Manager, Project Manager, Senior Manufacturing Development Engineer, Sales / Marketing Manager, and Workshop Manufacturing Manager. Derek is a strategic and entrepreneurial leader with strong business and financial acumen, and a solid track record of improving business performance. Derek was born in Shanghai China, and migrated to Australia since 1987. Derek, his wife Rachel and their family currently reside in China.
J. Michael Drozd
Technology Advisor
J. Michael Drozd serves as CoalTek's Executive Vice President with primary responsibility for Operations. Dr. Drozd combines executive-level business experience with extensive academic training. In the nine years prior to his joining CoalTek, Dr. Drozd served as President and CEO of Industrial Microwave Systems. Before that, he worked at Decision Focus, a management consulting firm. Dr. Drozd received a BSE in Electrical Engineering and Economics from Duke University, a Master's degree in Optical Engineering from Cambridge University (England), a Master's degree in Engineering-Economic Systems from Stanford University, and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Duke University. Dr. Drozd has 13 internationally issued patents and over 15 pending patents.
